If you search my blog for "A Day in the Life" you will find exactly zero posts. I've always wanted to do this, but seem to forget to start documenting until too late in the day. When I saw that this was becoming a link-up it gave me that extra push {and reminder} to document a day in our lives. Here's a look at a day in my life...
A few notes:
Date - Wednesday, 6/14/2017
Mason - 7 years old - out for summer break
Diesel - 9 years old
Lexi - 9 weeks old
Crystal - work from home mom
Nathan - at work from 6:00 am until 5:00 pm
A typical summer day
6:03 am | Lexi whines from her crate. I tell her no once and she settles back down. I was not ready to be up for the day.
7:30 am | My alarm goes off to get up for work. I realize that Lexi is still quiet in her crate. LOVE her! I get up and go to the restroom, wash my hands and brush my teeth. Go get Lexi out of her crate and she's just sitting there so calm and sweet. I take her outside and get some hugs before she goes potty. Last night I taught her how to give kisses {closed mouth kisses} and this morning she remembered. She did it many times in a row! I'm always giving her kisses so I thought I'd try to teach her. She's so dang smart! We play outside for a bit, gave her breakfast, take her outside once more and then it was time for me to go to work.
8:00 am | I turn on Pandora {the Lauren Daigle channel is my favorite}, check my work phone and tackle everything pending in my inbox.

8:45 am | I hear Mason coming towards my office. I had to document the time because this is the first day of summer that he has woke up before 10:30 am. Most days he has slept until 11:00. This boy is so not a morning person. We call Nathan to say good morning and chat with him for a minute. Then Mason goes potty and brushes his teeth. Mason grabs his iPad off his top bunk so that he can charge it while I start some sweet tea and let the dogs out to potty.
8:56 am | Back to work for me. Mason settles on the couch to watch something on Netflix, Lexi is sleeping beneath him and Diesel is asleep on the top of the couch. It's a quiet/lazy morning.
11:30 am | Potty break all around. I change over the laundry and fold towels. Diesel and Lexi play in the living room while Mason goes back to my office to resume his game.11:42 am | Back to the office we go! Work, work work.
1:30 pm | Time for a lunch break! We take the dogs out and then head to the kitchen to make us some lunch. I also feed the dogs, but only one of the pups is interested in eating at this time. Trying to get them both on the same schedule is proving to be a bit difficult.
1:44 pm | Back to work! Mason is playing and the dogs are napping. They go through spurts...play for 20 minutes, nap for 45 minutes, and then back to playing. The work day is pretty busy so I am at my desk more than some days. With my job clients reach out to me when they need something so it's a very feast/famine type of thing. I can turn my computer and phone up so that I hear when I have an email or call. This is such a blessing because I can get things done in the house throughout the day.
4:00 pm | Quittin' time!
Time to get ready for church! It's Wacky Water Wednesday for the kids and preteens so I make sure Mason is dressed accordingly. I also pack him a back of dry clothes and a towel. I gather some clothes that Mason outgrew for a friend at church and bag those up. I also switch purses to a bigger tote because I had some things I needed to bring that wouldn't fit in my crossbody. I also gather my bible and bible study book and put everything by the front door. Then it's time for me to get ready. I shower, fix my hair and make a glass of sweet tea to take.
4:40 pm | Finally dressed for the first time today! The day was too busy and I never got out of my pajamas. Some days I get dressed in the morning and others I don't. Just depends on the day. I knew we weren't going anywhere so this was one of those times I didn't worry about getting dressed.
5:05 pm | We arrive at church a little earlier than most Wednesdays. I finish my make-up in the parking lot before going in to see if I can help the summer supper crew. I helped dish out the desserts to plates, make to-go suppers for our shut-ins and filled cups of sweet tea. All the while getting to hang out with some of my favorite ladies.
5:30 pm | Went to check on Mason and found him and his best friend in the stairwell playing on their phones.
6:00 pm | Time for supper and fellowship! We had goulash, salad, bread, dessert and sweet tea. It was delicious!
6:45 pm | Bible study starts. Men do a study together, the ladies do a study together and the kids have a little class and then water time. The ladies finished up the last chapter of the book "Bait of Satan".
7:49 pm | Head to the Family Life Center to check Mason out of class and then sit with our Wednesday night crew! A handful of families stay late every Wednesday to chat and catch-up on our weeks and lives and such. That time is so precious to me!
10:05 pm | We arrive at home. Mason brought his best friend home for a sleepover. We visit with the pups, I make Nate's lunch for the next day, make the boys a drink and a snack, Mason and I change in to pajamas and I let Lexi out before putting her to bed. I slept on the couch so that I could give Nate a break and let Lexi out throughout the night. I had the hardest time falling asleep.
And, that is a wrap on our day. What does a day in your life look like?

ReplyDeleteI am so doing this next month! I love that you can work from home, and great that Mason sleeps so late usually awesome! Not so awesome that the pup wakes up so early, hopefully you were able to catch a few more ZZZZZ's. Keep the life in the day posts coming!
ReplyDelete1. SO jealous that you get to get up at 7:30am to start work at 8am. I get up at 5:30am every morning to get ready, get all the lunches made, and then we leave the house around 7:30am for the day!

ReplyDeleteYou got a lot accomplished! I'm impressed Mason will sleep until 11. I think that when my kids are teenagers and sleep that late I'll look back on the days of early risers (which isn't really that early here - 7:30) and miss it. I love that you taught Lexi to give kisses. Adorable!
ReplyDeleteGoulash!!!! My mom used to make that and I haven't thought about it for years!! And Mason sleeps until 11! Wowzers! I'm thinking about lunch and nap time at 11! And you're such a southerner with your sweet tea! Love following along! Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteI know you love you dogs but this just reminded me that I am not a dog person! Our cat is more than enough!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day! I can't believe Mason usually sleeps so late! I agree with Stephanie. I couldn't do a puppy! Phew!
