{Camping in the fall // Rusk & Palestine TX}

If you've read my blog for any amount of time you'd know that we are campers! We love to visit new places and camp while doing so. I love camping any time of the year, but especially in the fall. There is just something about the cooler weather that makes it so much more enjoyable. You're probably wondering why I am talking about fall when it's in the dead of winter for most. Well, we live in Texas and our weather is pretty bipolar. We are still having summer like days as well as fall like days around here. We've only had a couple of days that felt like winter so far. But for the most part, it's still fall here in Texas.
Back in November we traveled a couple of hours East for our Polar Express and Grinch weekend. I love camping in the Rusk/Palestine area because they actually have leaves and color change! Something we don't have here in our neck of the woods. I love it! And there is just something so cozy about camping in the Piney Woods!
The cooler weather makes hiking more bearable and enjoyable! I don't know about you, but hiking in 115+ degree weather is not my idea of fun. But, when it's in the 60s or below, yes please! The campgrounds we stay at have a few trails. Mason and I like to find unique leaves and pinecones we can later craft with.
Mason can also get out and play at the park or with his toys without having to worry about mosquitoes eating him alive! And same rings true for me. He and I are magnets for those little spawns of satan. We actually spend more time outside of the camper when the weather is so nice.
Camping in the fall will always have my heart!
Do you camp? When is your favorite time of the year to camp?

We do not camp but we love to hike! Not in the heat though goodness. This weather sounds about perfect to me!’
ReplyDeleteNow that winter is finally here, I am ready to go back to fall. Even though most of our fall just felt like summer :/.
