We checked Mason out of school close to 2pm on Friday so that we could get a jump on the drive and arrive there before dark. It was an easy drive, a little under two hours. We pulled up to see Nate's parents and my family all gathered around the picnic table chatting it up. We were so lucky to be able to get three campsites all right next to each other. Made for an awesome weekend, that's for sure. We chatted with everyone for a while before unloading the Jeep. Then my sister and I ran up to the front to get all of our numbers for the pumpkin, costume and campsite contests. Nate made some delicious fajitas for supper so we ate while waiting on our friends to arrive. Which was around 7:30 pm.
It was so great to see them and to spend some time catching up with them!! Life has been so busy that we've only been able to really communicate through texts for months. We sure did miss our friends. We all called it a night sometime after 11:00. We knew that Saturday was going to be a busy and long day!
Saturday morning we were up and at em' around 8 am. I made some fun and festive donuts for the kids and passed those out! The adults enjoyed them as well. The pumpkin contest started promptly at 10:00 am so we gathered our stuff and mosied on over to the pumpkin decorating area. Only three of our kiddos joined in the contest this year. They all did amazing but unfortunately didn't win. We just didn't fit their categories.
After the pumpkin contest, it was time to start getting our campsite ready for the campsite decorating contest! Only one problem - OU and Texas were playing!! That might have slowed us down a bit, but thank God for outdoor TVs!! Oh, and just in case you were wondering...OU won!!! BOOMER SOONER! We got our campsites decorated and had fun doing it! Our friends combined with us again and my family decorated theirs. Then it was time for the costume parade!! Nate and I went as Scarecrows and Mason went as a Skull Trooper from Fortnite. Our friends went as Joe Dirt and Dolly Parton! They were a hit.
After the costume parade it was time to scarf down a quick bite and get ready for the trick or treaters. My sister took Mason and Hunter while I worked on the sound system for our campsite. The fog and the sounds made the campsite that much better!
Creepy and fun, right? After trick or treating, we headed over to the dance! This is also where they announce the winners of the campsite decorating contest as well. We won Best Original campsite again! We were so excited. I didn't take many photos because we were too busy dancing and having a blast! That lasted from 7:30 until 10:00. When we weren't busy on the dance floor we all played a card game. Too much fun! Our kids stayed on the dance floor almost the whole time. They had a blast. Oh, and Mitchell Resort serves free beer, wine and sodas at this dance.
I am so sad that it's over and can't wait for next year!
