Part two of our Thanksgiving was spent in Tennessee visiting my dad's side of the family! My Grandparents (dad's parents) live in a tiny town in the northwestern corner of Tennessee. It's a little over a 9-hour drive for us, but certainly not a bad drive. When my siblings and I were younger we used to go a couple times a year to visit, but now that we all have families of our own it's harder to get up there that often. Before last week, it had been 5 years since we've been to TN. That's way too long if you ask me!
As children, we would sleep most of the trip, but Dad would always wake us up when we got to this bridge. We thought it was the coolest thing. So, this bridge holds a lot of memories for us and naturally, we have to do the same to our kiddos!
We got to Tennessee around 2:30ish pm on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We didn't even check into our hotel and went straight to my Grandparents house. It was so great to get hug them after so many years! They are such special people to me and my last living set of Grandparents. I just love them so. The drive to their house was so pretty and offered such amazing fall foliage.
We visited with them for several hours and then went to check into our hotel. After checking in, we went to dinner with my dad's brother and his family! It was such a good night.
Thursday was Thanksgiving. We got to my Grandparents house early so that we could visit before all the madness began! My dad not only has parents in Tennessee, but also has 4 brothers, 2 sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins in that area! Thanksgiving was amazing and it filled my heart to be able to spend time with precious family! Nate got out the drone so that we could get some group photos.
After a crazy 2020, it sure was great to spend time with the people I love so dearly!
More to come from this trip!
