{Christmas Cookies at Nana’s: A Sweet Tradition We Cherish}

 There are some traditions that just make the holiday season feel complete, and for our family, Christmas cookies at Nana’s is one of those moments I look forward to every single year. It’s the sweetest tradition—both literally and figuratively—and one that brings so much joy, laughter, and togetherness in the days leading up to Christmas.

Every year, Nana goes all out to make sure we have everything we need for a festive and fun night. From bowls of colorful icing and sprinkles to cookie cutters in every holiday shape imaginable, she truly thinks of everything. It’s one of those gatherings where you walk in and instantly feel the magic. The kitchen is warm, the tree is glowing, and the smell of sugar cookies baking fills the house—it’s the kind of cozy that feels like a Hallmark movie come to life.

We all show up in our Christmas pajamas, ready for a night of cookie decorating, sugar highs, and sweet memories. It’s one of my favorite ways to pause during the busyness of the season and just be present with the people we love most. There’s no agenda—just a night full of laughs, good food, and watching the kiddos get completely covered in frosting as they dive into their cookie masterpieces.

The best part? Seeing what wild and wonderful creations the kids come up with. Some cookies are sweetly simple, others are piled high with so many toppings they practically need structural support—but all of them are made with joy and a lot of love. Their little imaginations run wild, and I love watching each of their personalities come through in what they create. (unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the cookie decorating part - my hands were covered in icing).

Of course, with a house full of boys, you know it’s never just about cookies. There’s always a little wrestling match that breaks out at some point—usually in the middle of the living room, and usually accompanied by lots of yelling and laughing. It’s chaotic, a little wild, and totally on-brand for our crew. Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s part of what makes the night so special and so us.

As the cookies cool and the sugar rush starts to fade, we all settle in—bellies full, hearts even fuller. These nights are simple, but they hold so much meaning. They remind me that the best parts of the holidays aren’t found in the big events or perfect decorations—but in the little traditions, the messy moments, and the joy of just being together.

Christmas cookies at Nana’s will always be one of my favorite nights of the season—a sweet slice of holiday magic, year after year. ❤️🍪🎄
