{Wordless-ish Wednesday}

The next Josh Hamilton?!?

{24 month Check-up}

On Friday 7/6 Mason had his 24 month checkup {a month and a week late} and it went exceptionally well.

For the first time like ever Mason walked right up, stood on the scale, let her measure him and take his temperature without totally clinging to me.
He was such a big boy and we were so proud.

Stats -
Weight - 29.3 lbs - 61 percentile
Height - 35.2 in - 70 percentile
Head circumference - 19.5 in - 69 %

The major change was the jump in his height. At his 20 month checkup he was 32.5 in and only in the 22nd percentile!!

Dr. Sweet is the most gentle, kindest doctor ever. We love her to pieces. When checking Mason's ears she told Mason she found a birdie in his ears and made a chirping noise. He talked about that for 3 days! And if you ask him what the doctor found in his ears he will tell you. He especially loved that.

She gave us an awesome report and said that she has no concerns what so ever in the development department.

He only got 1 shot - the last part of the hepatitis.
He cried - but I think mostly because Nate had to hold him down. He doesn't like to be pinned down. So, he was crying before the shot even happened.
He didn't have any side effects from it.
That made me happy!

At 25 months - you're

Size 2T and 3T bottoms, size 3T and 4T shirts
Size 7 shoe
Size 6 diaper

Eating - getting so much better, trying new things and even eating meats. Lately you love lunchables and even eat the meat out of them. You also eat all parts of the hamburger now instead of just the bread and cheese. Your favorite food is mexican...you love rice, beans, tortillas, and bean burritos. You've come a long way in this department.

Sleeping - you sleep great at night - although your bed time has been pushed out. These days it's hard to get you asleep before 9:30. You nap for a little over 2 hours everyday at school and weekends are up in the air. Sometimes you'll go all day without a nap and sometimes you'll nap for 4 hours or more!

Talking - I was just saying on facebook how amazed I am at the conversations I have with you these days! You're like a miniature person and it's crazy to me. There's nothing you can't say. I'm keeping note of all the funny things you've been saying lately. V1 here V2 here

You have really gotten into TV shows lately - Caillou, Bubble Guppies, Dora and Diego are your favorites. But, if you were to have to choose between tv and going outside you'd choose outside - hands down. You are very active and love for Mommy and Daddy to play with you. I find myself having conversations with you that I never imagined doing at only {barely} 2 years old! You are stubborn, but yet you have such a sweet soul. You do not like the word No. You have better manners than most adults. You are happy most of the time, but can throw some really big fits too. You hate wearing shoes, changing your diaper and riding in your car seat. You love your sandbox, monster trucks, tractors and trains. You drink like a horse and eat like a bird.

Masonbug - Mommy and Daddy love you more than you could ever imagine! You fill our hearts with so much pride and joy we could burst. Thank you for changing our lives.

{I've been there too...}

I think everyone has had these kind of days...

{He said What?! V2}

Time for round two of things Mason says!!
I do not want to forget any of this.

...
6/1 - While getting into the car to head to school I asked Mason if he told the Sun good morning -
"Hi Mr Golden Sun, how ya doin? Ya workin'? huh?"

....

While eating an afternoon snack {breadstick crackers and cheese}

Me - "Mason, you have too much cheese on there"

Mason - "Yeah, it'll make Mason sick"

...

While giving him a bath he saw my painted toes -

"I like your toes Mommy, they so pitty"

...

Saturday when we woke up -

"Mommy is that a new shirt?"

...

Sunday morning when we woke up -

"Mommy, hugs {we hug} - I like your nose"

...

After having lunch with my family -

"Mommy, I had fun with Tanner Louis"

...

To an employee at Academy -

"Excuse me Mohawk guy" {yes, he did have a mohawk}

...

Laying down for bed one night he was playing with my hair and says -

"Mommy, you got a ponytail huh?"

{no clue how he knew it was called a ponytail!!!}

...

When Mason gets mad at someone or something he'll say -

"I don't want you Daddy" or "I don't want you Mommy".

It's cute but kind of heartbreaking, too.

...

Normally if you ask Mason how many tractors he has he will say "Eighty". Well, we were all in the living room of Nate's Grandpa's house in Oklahoma and someone asked Mason how many tractors he has..

His reply?

"Too many"

hahaha! He floored us all. We were expecting his "eighty" reply. We couldn't stop laughing.

...

Watching the Hooter's Swimsuit Competition {I know}

Mason - "I like her"
Me - "Oh? You like her?"
Mason - "No, I LOVE her"

{sigh}

...

Last night while winding down for bed {7/3}

Mason - "I'm so proud of you, Mama" and then he hugged my arm.

{Mr Personality}

My dearest Mason,
I love you to the moon and back!
You are awesome.
Pure and simple as that.
You have so much personality and character.
 And I kind of love being around you.
Like every wakin' minute.
You make me laugh and you fascinate me with the things you say.
Please stay little.
Okay?

{Manners}

Before Mason was even born Nathan and I both agreed
that our child would have manners.
We'd teach them and instill in them how important
having manners.
And we'd start as soon as our child started talking.

It's respectful.
It's kind.

Maybe it's a Southern thing.
Maybe it's a "Texan" thing.
But, it's important to us.

And how cute is it to hear a 2 year old say "Yes ma'am", "No sir",
"Please and Thank You"?!?
Pretty darn!

People are always complementing Mason on his manners.
And that?
Makes me so proud!!!!

He picked them up pretty seamlessly...
but lately he has picked up "Yeah"...{from school I suppose}
So, we are having to remind him here and there.
He does good for the most part, but slips every now and then.

{No girls allowed}

Monday at school we had at least 5 new kids.
Well...
One of those just happened to be a blonde haired, blue eyed, tanned,
cute as can be little 3 year old girl.
To say Mason fell for her was an understatement.
She was sitting across from Mason at the table and he wouldn't take his eyes off her.
He says, "Mama, I go sit by her" - never blinking or looking away from her.
A few seconds later the little girl took off to join all the other kids.
What does Mason say to that?

"Mommy, I go with Gracie!!!".
So he did.

And his teacher told me he followed her around all morning.

I am in TROUBLE!

He's too young for this!!

We are going to have to have a talk about girls.
Mommy is the only one allowed!! :)

{Day trip to Oklahoma}

This past Saturday the Hall family traveled to Oklahoma to visit family.
It had been a while. Like Fall of 2010.
Long overdue!!!
The trip wasn't too bad, except for Mason and that whole carseat thing.
Oh and we got a flat tire.
But the boys changed it like champs.
NBD!

We visited for a while at Nate's Grandparents house.
Mason put on quite a show!
Always a ham.

Mason and his Great Grandpa

Then Frankie & Paula came by for a visit.
They offered Mason a ride on the "Big" tractor.
I think Mason was putting his shoes on before they even got out all of the word, "Tractor".
He was so excited.

We loaded up in the trucks and drove to the Ranch.
Mason was so anxious he could barely stand it.
The boys were in one truck and the girls in another.
But Nate told me he said, "Look dad a BIG Barnnnnnnn" and got so excited.

He could barely contain himself once he saw what awaited him behind the barn door...

They wasted no time and climbed straight up into the tractor.
Mason was in tractor heaven!!!

Frankie lifted the fork implement on the tractor and Mason's jaw dropped.
Nate and I both saw it at the same time and then looked at each other.
There is nothing in this world like seeing your child so excited.

Frankie let Mason drive a little on his own {since they were in wide open spaces}.
Then he took him to lift some hay bales.
Mason loved every single second of it.

It's so pretty out on the Ranch.
Makes me want to live here. {kind of}
I know Mason would love it. He's our little country boy.

Nate's brothers, Nate, Mason and cousin Frankie

After tractor rides we went to see the 4 new baby cows.
They were adorable.

Then we went back to Papa Johnny's to visit a little more before we had to head back to Texas!!

We love getting to visit family and can't wait to go back.
Hopefully this time sooner rather than later!
