{Fourth of July Camping // Blue Sky RV Cedar Creek}

 This year for the 4th of July, we camped with Nate's family at Blue Sky Cedar Creek. It's a new RV resort near Cedar Creek Lake. It's just minutes down the road from my family's lakehouses!  Two of my aunts, and my parents all have a lakehouse on the same street (4 houses total between them all). And because of this, we got to spend some of the 4th of July weekend with both sides of the family! It was brutally HOT but we survived and had a great time!

{4th of July at the Lake}

 On July 3rd, we were invited out to my aunt's lakehouse to hang out. We had the best time hanging out with the family, playing games, swimming, and watching the sunset & fireworks! Even though it wasn't actually the 4th, there were still a ton of fireworks. I didn't get many photos of the day/night, but the memories will be held in my heart for a long time.

{ROLLING IN THE 4TH OF JULY PARADE WITH ELLIS COUNTY JEEPS}

 We joined our local Jeep club, Ellis County Jeeps, in the 4th of July parade in Midlothian. We met at our staging area and started decorating the Jeeps. It was so hot and humid, but we made the best of it. We got to see a lot of our Jeep friends as well as other friends that were in the parade also. It was such a fun time!

{PORT LAVACA // DAY 4 // BACK TO MATAGORDA}

 On the fourth day of our Port Lavaca vacation, we decided to go back to Matagorda to spend the day at the beach. We enjoyed it the night before and knew we wanted to come back...with swimsuits this time.

{Port Lavaca // Day 3 // Matagorda}

 On day three of our trip, the morning started out rainy. We played some card games in the camper until the rain passed. The crew was hungry for some seafood, so that landed us in Matagorda! There wasn't much in the small town our KOA was at, so a quick Internet search took us to a place called Waterfront in Matagorda.

{Port Lavaca // Day 2 // Magnolia Beach, Casa Jalisco, Snow Cones, 4th of July Festivities}

 On day 2 of our Port Lavaca camping trip, we decided to hit up the beach. We searched a couple that were close and decided on Magnolia Beach. This was our first time in this area, so we were not too familiar with the nearby beaches. Magnolia sounded like it would be nice...

{Port Lavaca // Day 1 // KOA, Swimming & Danny's Seafood House}

 Nate's parents booked a camping trip for the 4th of July weekend down in Port Lavaca, TX. Some good family friends of ours joined us as well. Nate's parents, Ty & Michelle got there on Thursday afternoon and we met them there that evening. Nate worked a half day and I worked until 4pm. We were packed and ready to go the minute I got off work!

{STAR SPANGLED Saturday}

While the 4th of July weekend was a bit different this year (quarantine), we still had an incredible time. Our original morning/afternoon plans of being in the 4th of July parade and then going to the waterpark with the Jeep club were quickly vetoed. We were definitely bummed about the parade because we had so much fun last year. We kind of figured the waterpark thing wouldn't happen because Texas is starting to shut down again. The weekend before they closed down the river floats around here, so it was bound to happen. We didn't even tell Mason about it so that we didn't get his hopes up.

{WEEKEND WRAP-UP // SUNFLOWERS, JEEP RIDES, 4TH OF JULY, ICE CREAM}

We had a really, really good weekend! I was sad to see it go. Nate and I were both off on Friday and Nate was off on Monday! Those extra-long weekends are so incredibly good for the soul. Nate will have an extra-short week this week since his company celebrated the 4th on Monday! And, he's off on Fridays. I sure wish I could say the same. lol. Anyhow, here's a look at our weekend...

{Rollin' in the 4th of July parade with the Ellis County Jeep Club}

We had the pleasure of getting to roll with the Ellis County Jeeps in the Waxahachie 4th of July parade! Despite the insane heat and humidity, we had a blast. This was our 4th or 5th parade to be in since we've had the Jeep. They just keep getting better and better!

{Star Spangled Weekend}

How is it already Monday? It's already late afternoon and I am just now getting to this post. We spent Thursday - Sunday out in the Texas heat from basically sun up until sundown. To say that we are exhausted would be an understatement! We had a 4th of July parade Thursday morning and we camped the rest of the weekend. I used my 4th of July Scavenger hunt as a "photo hunt" of sorts to capture a Star Spangled Weekend...

{Fourth of July Scavenger Hunt}

I created this scavenger hunt a few years ago but wanted to share it again. We are big on scavenger hunts over here! Especially when we are outdoors or camping! And, we'll definitely be camping this 4th of July weekend. This can also be used as a photo checklist to capture your weekend! I'm printing and bring this with us!

FOURTH OF JULY SCAVENGER HUNT - HALL AROUND TEXAS

What are your plans for the 4th of July?

{RED, WHITE, BLUE AND YOU LINK-UP // Target dollar spot haul}

I am obsessed with all things red, white and blue, stars & stripes!! So, you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon a fairly stocked 4th of July bin in the dollar spot at Target a couple of weeks ago! To explain a bit, our local Target's dollar spot stays empty. womp. womp. We are basically the only Target in the county, so everyone and their grandma's dog comes to our Target! So, if you hit it when it's stocked you better grab while you can! And that's what I did with some cute 4th of July decor for my tiered tray! I love changing that tray up with the seasons! I need to be on the hunt for some staple items to go on the tray like Laurie does. But in the meantime, here is my Target dollar spot haul it all of it's red, white and blue glory!

{Five on Friday // VBS, Lexi, 4th of July, Vacation, Amevie Sunglasses}

It has been a long while since I've wrote a Five on Friday post! It was back at the beginning of May to be exact. May and June have been our busiest months so far this year and I don't see it slowing down any time soon. Here is a little bit of what we have been up to this week...

{Star Spangled Weekend}

Traditions are kind of my jam. Especially traditions around holidays. This weekend we packed up and headed about an hour East for our annual Fourth of July camping trip. We have been camping at this same RV resort since Mason was a baby. Same weekend every year, same group of friends, similar but different memories to be made. We spend the weekend swimming in an amazing pool, fishing or paddle boating in one of the 9 ponds, eating street tacos from the best little stand, hanging out for hours on end talking about everything under the sun, shopping at First Monday, lighting sparklers and doing everything we can to beat the Texas heat.

Each year I notice that this resort adds more activities for the kids and I love it. We weren't able to do many of them because of the dang heat {triple digits} but we were able to join in for the bike parade {another of our traditions} and t-shirt decorating. I will post tomorrow about the bike parade. Mason enjoyed the t-shirt decorating. It was his first time to tie-dye anything.

We put the GoPro through the ringer this weekend and came home with 25 different videos. It may take me a year to edit all of those, but I will eventually get them up on the blog.

I didn't take many photos of the last leg of our trip. Honestly, it was too hot, I was exhausted and sunburned. But, our memory tanks are full enough to get us through until our next trip!

How was your Fourth of July weekend?
