This past Sunday we made a trip out to Bristol to see the Bluebonnets and to grab some supper at the Bristol General Store! This has to be one of my favorite Sunday traditions of ours. The Bluebonnets are only here for a short season, so we try to make as many trips as we can.

{Texas Tuesday // Bristol & Bluebonnets}
It's no secret around here that a drive out to the Bluebonnet fields (in the Jeep) fuels my soul! The drive from our house to Bristol is so pretty and it feels so good to be on some Texas backroads! We took a drive to see the Bluebonnets and pick up some food at the Bristol General Store.
{It's Bluebonnet Season // April 2022}
The weather was absolutely gorgeous on Sunday so we decided to take a topless backroads drive to see the bluebonnets and pick up some sushi! This is one of my favorite spring-time traditions of ours!
{Bluebonnets // 2021 // Vol. 2}
Bluebonnets are one of my most favorite things about spring! There is nothing more soothing to the soul than taking a backroads drive at sunset to see fields of wildflowers! So much beauty...only God! This spring we got out to visit the Bluebonnets several times. I'll let the photos do the talking...
{Bluebonnets // 2021 // Vol. 1}
Back on March 26th we made our first trip over to see the Bluebonnets (< click on that link to see previous Bluebonnet posts). Driving the back roads to see these beautiful Texas flowers is one of our favorite things to do on weeknights! It's so soothing to my soul to drive these back roads at sunset and then spend some time in these gorgeous wildflower fields.

{Driving the Ennis/Bristol Bluebonnet Trail}
One weekday afternoon we got out and drove the Bluebonnet Trail in the Bristol & Ennis area. There is over 40 miles of trails, but we've never followed a map. We just drive. We wanted to go a little early before the flowers were all trampled on, or before it was entirely too crowded to enjoy. This is one of my most favorite drives, only about 15 minutes from our house. It's so beautiful and such a breath of fresh air {literally}. It's actually one of my favorite things to do with my sweet boys! Radio up, windows down, enjoying God's beautiful country!!
Sadly, the bluebonnets weren't as plentiful this year. We heard it was because we didn't have a great freeze this winter. Apparently the freeze cracks open the shells and the seeds fall out. But, that didn't happen this year {makes me scared for our summer}!
We did find a good area that I could get out and take some pictures. I had to lay in the damp grass and fight off bees left and right, but it was worth it. These are the shots I got. However, they do not do these beauties any justice at all.
