The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo ~ This thing is Legendary!! This year we planned a trip to the stock show with our friend group. Most of them have never been (two families are from California)! So, we made that happen and we had so much fun.

{This thing is legendary!! // FWSSR // 2020}

Family traditions are my jam! And the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo is one of my favorite family traditions!! Every year 15-20+ of us get tickets together and it's an amazing time. This year we got to see the new Dickie's Arena and we were all so eager and anxious to do so!

{January, February, March and April update}

It has been quite a while since I have touched this space! While I have thought about blogging many times throughout the last few months, there just wasn't enough time in the day. But I do know that when I go to look back at my blog one day I will be sad about the gaps that I missed. So, I am going to make an attempt to make time for my little corner of the web. I have a lot of catching up to do so I am going to catch up on the highlights from each month.

{Weekend Wrap-up // Rodeo // Working in the Shop}

Weekend wrap-up...on a Tuesday! Yesterday I was too defeated to even touch the blog {or anything, really}. It was the Monday-iest Monday ever. But, anyhow, better late than never.

We had a pretty good weekend. Friday we didn't do a whole lot...just went to dinner and visited with Nate's parents. Saturday was our annual trip to the Ft Worth Stock show and Rodeo. It's a tradition in Nate's family that his Grandfather started. Saturday was Nate's 34th, my 20th and Mason's 6th consecutive year to go. If you know anything about me then you know that I love traditions!! We had tickets for the 2 pm rodeo so we got there around 11 to walk around the barns, one swipe of the exhibits and out to the Midway area so that Mason can ride rides. The rides are always Mason's favorite part. That boy has no fear and would ride anything and everything if we let him.

If I am being honest, this wasn't my favorite rodeo. We didn't have a whole lot of time before the rodeo started and then the rodeo itself was kind of bleh. There were no good rides at all. After the rodeo we all trucked over to Joe T Garcia's for some good food! I started feeling really sick after the rodeo with a sinus headache, so the rest of the evening was kind of a drag for me. I was bummed, but just couldn't shake the headache.

But Sunday...oh Sunday! Sunday was our favorite day! The sun was out and we were ready to get outside!! My brother in law let us know about a stack of pallets he found in a town nearby, so we went and scooped those up {but not before Mason put on his tie with his hoodie!!}. We are working on an epic pallet project and trying to collect as many as we can. We were able to get 7 really good pallets from the stack.

When we got back we worked on cleaning out the shop and organizing everything. It was a mess from our last few projects....

I plan to do a full post on our DIY Farmhouse kitchen table, but there is another sneak peek ^^.  While we worked in the shop Mason made sure to keep all of the bad guys away from our property, ate a couple of popsicles, generously gave out some cuddles and did a little mowing. We were outside until sundown and enjoyed every minute of it.

It was the best day! We really enjoyed being able to be in the shop with all the doors open and not freezing our buns off.

How was your weekend?

{Texas Tuesday // Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo}

Happy Texas Tuesday y'all!!!

What is Texas Tuesday? A chance for you to show off the awesomeness that is TEXAS!! You can blog about anything; restaurants, vacation spots, venues, concerts, your hometown, shops, fashion, sports, etc. The linkup is not limited to Texans, we just ask that the post is about Texas.

{Texas Tuesday - FWSSR - This thing is legendary!}

This Saturday we made our annual trip over to Fort Worth for the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo! It's a tradition for the Halls {and now the Moores} and we love it!

Despite the last minute freak out in weather {Typical Texas} we still had a great time! It was supposed to be a high of 70 that day and sometime while we were getting ready it changed and the temperature dropped 20 degrees and continued to drop!

Mason was excited to see the animals and ride some rides. And that he did. We started in the cattle barns and made a few swipes through those. They were showing in most of the barns so they were extremely crowded. After the barns we headed to the exhibits for a bit. We found Mason a new belt and buckle and he sweet talked his Nana into a couple things, too! Then we were off to the rides.

Mason was able to ride 6 or so rides before the Rodeo. He had a wonderful time and it wasn't too terribly cold. I think the Midway was just on the other side of the buildings so it helped block some of the wind. Anyhow, I love how he has no fear and wants to do it all. It won't be long and we'll be moving to the 'bigger' rides. Eeek!

The Rodeo was awesome! There were a lot of good bulls and rides. Our seats were basically right over the chutes...so that was awesome.

After the Rodeo we all headed over to dinner at the Mexican food place. Another tradition. We had so much much fun there talking and just hanging out. We talked a lot about vacations and the upcoming wedding of Nate's middle brother & his fiance. So much to look forward to!

Until next year, FWSSR...

{Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo 2013}

This past Saturday we went to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. Going to the FWSSR was a tradition that Nate's Grandpa started with the family way back when. His Grandfather is no longer with us, but we carry on the tradition. This was Nathans 31st, my 17th {with his fam}, and the 3rd for Mason. I look forward to this day every year! It's such a great time. This year we had a group of 17 and took the entire rows of 1 and 2 in Section A.

We left Waxahachie at 10 am and headed that way. We thought that would give us plenty of time for the Stock Show and exhibits before the 2:00 Rodeo. But, there was traffic on 2 of the major highways and then traffic around the Rodeo grounds. We had to park in the back-40. But, we got to ride in a covered wagon pulled by a tractor. Mason was ecstatic!

 We got to walk through one of the cow barns, but pretty quickly. We found the Moores and then headed to the exhibit halls. We had our minds set on getting a picture of Mason on the bull. And of course they moved it from the spot it's normally in. We went through a few aisles before someone finally asked. Aha, aisle 800. $20 later we had us a 4x6 and cd of the 4 pictures they took.

 Looks like a natural, eh? It was a compromise to the real bulls that he wanted to ride! After we got our pictures we headed for the tractors. We saw them on the way to the bull and promised Mason we'd go back. Plus, it was a good spot to hang out and let our huge group all meet up.

Mason has absolutely no fear. So it was no surprise when he wanted to ride the roller coasters in the midway! He settled for a little more mild tractor ride! He also went through the petting zoo with Kynna and Kolton.

After a little time in the midway it was time for the Rodeo. Mason got a lightup toy, cotton candy, nachos, a snow cone, funnel cake, etc. The Rodeo was good and Mason was totally into it. He watched with curious little eyes and asked many questions. And I'm pretty sure he told his Daddy he wanted to ride!

After the Rodeo we went back to Midway for another ride. Mason cried when we had to leave. He wanted to ride more..but we had a cagillion people waiting on us to go eat. This guy made up for it and took away his tears...

FWSSR 2013 - you did not disappoint. See ya next year!
