{The Guys Behind the Blog // November}

Back for our 2nd installment of Guys Behind the Blog!! I had so much fun reading all of the guys answers to our Halloween themed questions last month. This month we are focusing on Thanksgiving themed questions. I haven't met a guy that doesn't love Thanksgiving {eating & football}, so this should be fun.

{Guys behind the blog // October}

In case you missed the original announcement {here}, I've joined a few friends to keep The Guys Behind the Blog link-up going! We are so excited that today is our first installment and includes some fun Halloween themed questions.

{MTB // My Sweet Man // The Guys Behind the Blog announcement}

There is no doubt that Nate is a manly man. He loves all things outdoors; hunting, fishing, sports, hiking, etc. But, he especially loves fishing. He always has. However, our most recent vacation to New Orleans and Panama City Beach reminded him of his obsession love for fishing and he has logged many hours near the water since! Lucky for him we have a pond in our backyard. Mason and I love to join him occasionally. Nate fishes, Mason fishes with him sometimes or plays in the bamboo and I snap pictures of them both. Win, win for us all.

Time for Guys Behind the Blog! It's hard to believe we have been linking up for over a year now! It's one of my favorite posts each month! But, I have a confession - I didn't read the instructions and interviewed Nathan instead of my Dad. I was just so used to asking him all of the questions, I suppose. Ooops!

June Questions:
June is all about celebrating dads and grads. That’s how the saying goes, right? Next month we are going to shift our attention to some other guys behind our blogs — our dads! To celebrate Father’s Day we have a series of questions to interview your dad or a father figure in your life with.

1.) What did you have as a child that kids today don't have?

Nintendo, Vanilla Ice, the mom-arm seatbelt while standing in the front seat.

2.) What did you want to be as a child when you grew up?

A professional baseball player or a game warden.

3.) What three adjectives would you use to describe fatherhood?

Fast, hard and fun.

4.) How many years have you been a father and how many children do you have?

6 years and only one son.

5.) What is one piece of advice or wisdom you would like to pass on to your children?

To work hard and get an education, but mainly work hard. There are a lot of smart but lazy people out there with nothing to show for it.

{Guys Behind the Blog // May}

It's time for one of my most favorite link-ups that Betsy and Laura-Jean host, The Guys Behind the Blog. I love sending Nate the questions via email each month and then getting his answers. Sometimes I can totally predict what he will say, but other times I am surprised. I think I have a pretty good idea of how he would answer all of these....

May Questions

In preparation for the upcoming season, May’s questions are going to focus on everything summery. However, there is a little bit of a twist! Next month’s questions will be would-you-rather-style. Enjoy!

  1. Would you rather have to wear your swimsuit to work OR have to carry around a large beach umbrella open all day at work?

  2. Probably wear my swimsuit to work, but either way I would hear about it nonstop from the shop guys.

  3. Would you rather play on an MLB team OR get to tour with your favorite band all summer?

  4. Texas Rangers, without a doubt.
  5. Would you rather go to the beach and forget your towel OR go to the beach and forget your sunscreen?

  6. I could go without either one.

    *and he's not lying. He would never have a towel if I didn't pack one for him.

  7. Would you rather take a week-long vacation to anywhere in the world OR take a month-long vacation but have to stay within 100 miles of home?

  8. A month off work! Sign me up!

  9. Would you rather get to have as much ice cream as you want this summer, but only be able to get vanilla OR only get to have ice cream three times this summer, but you can have whatever flavors you want?

  10. I would be good with only eating chocolate 3 times this summer.

And there you have it! Not a lot to his answers this time since it was a this or that type of thing. Did your guy join in this time?

{The Guys Behind the Blog // April Edition}

Time for another round of Guys Behind the Blog with Betsy at Heavens to Betsy and Laura Jean at According to Laura Jean. I love getting to feature my man on the blog and love reading his answers to the questions. April was all about childhood and family. I love hearing about things that happened in his life before I met him at the ripe age of 14.

Questions // Answers

1.) In what ways are you the same of your childhood self?
// I am still a softie. I tear up when it comes to hearing or seeing something good in life or something I can relate to.

2.) What does family mean to you?
// My family is my world. We are a small family, but we are close. I would put any of them before me and go to the grave protecting them. I would not be the man I am today without anyone of them from the oldest to the youngest.

3.) How would your family or closest friends describe you?
// Not sure. I would hope they would say I am a good person, passionate, caring and honest.

4.) What's your fondest childhood memory?
// Probably the times spent camping, fishing and playing baseball. I also remember as a little boy when I would stay at my NeNaw's house. If it rained we would sit out on the back porch wrapped up in a blanket and watch it rain. I think that is why I love rain storms so much.

5.) What words of wisdom would you pass on to your childhood self?
// Spend more time with your pawpaw and listen to him and remember his stories. Work harder in school and don't care so much what other people think.

{Guys behind the blog // March edition}

Linking up with Betsy for Guys Behind the Blog // March Edition. For March Betsy and Laura Jean left it up to us to come up with five questions for our guy. At first I loved the idea, and then panicked because I thought I missed the link-up and couldn't think of any questions, then I realized I had another week to come up with some. It's not my best work, but that's okay. And Nathan has no idea that I made these questions up! ha!

March's Questions
  1. What is your all time favorite song? // Crazy or Mexico - Jason Boland and the Stragglers
  2. What are you excited about right now? // The possibility of a large pay increase and Mason playing soccer.
  3. Name three things you love about your wife. // She is loyal to everyone. She is real, you will not get anything fake from her and she is a great mother.
  4. If you could vacation anywhere and money wasn't an object, where would you go? // Private beach with clear water, do not care where.
  5. What is your favorite thing about being a father? // The unconditional love that he gives and to see him get excited about something that I enjoy also.

{Guys Behind the Blog // February Edition}

Linking up with Betsy for Guys Behind the Blog // February Edition. I know I sound like a broken record, but this is hands down one of my favorite link-ups of all time. There is just something so fun about interviewing the hubs and showcasing him on the blog. It makes he wonder what it would be like if the husbands were the bloggers in the family. haha!

I normally send the monthly questions to Nathan via email while he is at work. This month the questions were ready and Nate took an unexpected day off work so I used that as an opportunity to ask him in person. I don't think I will ever go back to interviewing him via email. I liked seeing his expressions to the questions. Fun times!!

February’s Questions

  1. This year is Leap Year — what are you going to do to celebrate? {shakes head}....I don't even know what leap year is or what it is good for.
  2. If you could create an obscure holiday, what would it be and why? Probably the day after the Super Bowl. Because it's stupid to have the Super Bowl on a Sunday and then have to work the next day. {note - Nate is not a drinker. This makes him sound like he needs a day to recover from a hangover or something. Well, I guess he does...but it's more of a Sports hangover!!}
  3. Have you seen the movie Leap Year? If not, tell us about another romantic comedy you have seen. Nope...{blank stare for a while}...I guess the Notebook, but I don't remember much about it. Me // Just Rachael McAdams? Nate // Yeah, pretty much.
  4. Tradition has it that women are supposed to propose to their men on leap day. Would you (or did you) say yes if your girl popped the question? Yeah! Me // Just a yeah? Nate // {big grin}
  5. If you had to have a special event take place on leap day, what would it be (ex: wedding, birthday, birth of your child, etc)? {silence for a while} I guess Valentine's Day. We don't really celebrate it anyway and then we'd only have to think about celebrating it every 7 years or whatever.
Me // I think you need to brush up on your leap year studies.
Nate // I told you I don't know anything about it. It's pretty stupid.

HA!!

1. What's on your Christmas list this year?
 I would like a fishing kayak, but they are expensive.  Maybe a new knife or something I can use.

2. Did you believe is Santa as a child? Do you have any funny Santa stories?
Yes I believed in Santa, still do. It has changed from him giving to him building, but it is still fun.

3. What is a Christmas tradition you hope to pass on someday?
Waking up Christmas morning and seeing the goods (presents) and going to Mom and Dads and spending the day opening gifts, eating and watching Christmas Story.

4.  Do you open presents on Christmas morning or a different time?
We have about a 3 day Christmas with both sides of the family but Santa gifts are Christmas morning.

{To elaborate a little...we normally do Christmas with Nate's Grandparents the weekend before Christmas. On Christmas Eve we hang out at home and then go to parent's house to eat and hang out. We used to spend Christmas Eve with my family, but after my brother got divorced we changed it to work around when he would get his boys. This year for Christmas Eve we are going to a candlelight service and then supper with Nate's family. Christmas morning we will wake up to Santa and gifts at our house. We'll hang out a bit here just the three of us before we truck on over to Nate's parents house for Santa and gifts over there. On Saturday the 26th we are all gathering at my Aunt's house for Christmas with my mom's side of the family. We are doing a sandwich/soup/salad/whatever type of potluck and then a chinese gift exchange. We are spending Christmas with my family on the 1st this year.}

5.  What is your favorite Christmas song?  Movie?
I am not a fan of any Christmas songs but I do like the Elf and Polar express.

 1. What sports did you participate in as a child? What sports did you watch growing up?

Baseball from 3 years old, soccer from 4 years old and football when I was 14.   I watched football and baseball all the time when I was growing up and still do.

2. If you could line up your ideal Super Bowl, who would be facing off, where would they play and who would you pick to win?

85 Bears and 95 Cowboys - Cowboys would win by a field goal in OT in Dallas.

3. Do you prefer the summer or winter Olympics? If you could participate in one Olympic sport, what would it be?

I would say summer Olympics, because my hammies do not like the cold and I would pull one in the cool temps.  I would probably compete for team USA in baseball if they ever brought it back.

4. What is your favorite food to eat at a sports party (ex: World Series, Super Bowl, Stanley Cup, etc.)?

Probably chips and dips or wings.  Not really a fan of sports parties because I actually like to watch the game and not listen to everyone gripe about this or that.

5. Who is your all time favorite athlete and why?

I have several but I would say Ken Griffey Jr. or Chipper Jones.  Both guys played the game how it should be played and were exceptional athletes without being jerks.
