{Soccer // Spring 2018}

Sports! Oh, how I've missed watching Mason play sports. We wrapped up Basketball and jumped straight into soccer! I forgot how much I enjoy watching Mason play soccer. He wanted to play baseball but told us a couple weeks after signups had ended. So, we are doing soccer instead.

{Oh Hey Friday // Gifted and Talented // Soccer}

Happy Friday!! This week was a weird one...the days were long, but the evenings flew by. Usually how it goes, though. We have another pretty busy weekend ahead of us; soccer game, birthday party, maybe meeting some church friends at a preserve, and then church on Sunday. I'm looking forward to it.

Time for Five on Friday...

{O N E} // Posts from this week

{T W O} // Mason's papa brought him home a pair of shoes this week. A friend at work had bought them for his child, but they didn't like them or wear them or whatever so he sent them to Mason. This is his first pair of high-tops {besides chucks} and he loves them! He's definitely a 'shoes' kid. Every time we go to Academy he begs for a new pair.

{T H R E E} // So, so proud of our sweet boy!!! Last week his sweet teacher emailed us to say she tested him last week and he's reading at a 14 level and performing as a 2nd grader in the month of October. When the kids leave Kindergarten they want them to be at a level 4 and he's at a 14! And then the next day we got a letter asking for our permission to test Mason for the gifted and talented program for his district. Not only is he excelling academically, he has a long streak of coming home on green {good behavior}. He is trying to finish out the school year on all greens and he's doing so great. I love to see him set and make goals.

{F O U R} // We had our last soccer practice of the season last night! So sad. I've really, really enjoyed watching Mason play soccer. It's fun and exciting! Being a soccer mom is so cliche, but it really is awesome {just need that mini-van! ha}. I hope that he wants to play another season. He's talking about karate, and while I will support him in anything he wants to try, I have to admit it sounds boring. But, I thought that about soccer, too. I am sure I will love it because I love him.

Anyhow, practice went great. Mason has really gotten into it lately. He's agressive and his footwork has come a long way. I enjoyed watching him last night. When he ran over for a water drink he said, "Did I do good mama?" I told him that he did great and asked him if he was sure he was only five because he was playing soccer like a ten year old. He smiled so big and then hustled back out to practice. LOVED it! I should have taken some video, but honestly I was probably sitting there with my jaw hung open because of how well he was doing.

{F I V E} // After practice we let Mason play on the playground for a bit. He has recently conquered the monkey bars and can't get enough of them. What is it about parenthood that makes you so proud over something as simple as monkey bars? :)

Happy weekend friends! Any plans?

{Spring 2016 bucketlist // Update #2 // Playing in the rain & Soccer}

Playing in the rain is one of those items you can put on your spring bucketlist and just know that you will cross it off! April usually brings a lot of rain for us here in Texas. However, the rain has been kind of weird this season so far. It seems to start when we are in bed and then stops right before Mason gets home from school. So, while he hasn't actually 'played in the falling down rain' he has romped about in the puddles many times.

I'm not sure what it is about little boys and puddles or mud...but it's like a little slice of heaven on earth for them. At least it is for Mason. He find so much joy in the water and I love to watch him play. I'm hoping for more rain because there are some photos I want to attempt.

We've also checked off Watch Mason Play Soccer from our Spring 2016 Bucketlist. We are down to only two games left. Mason will actually miss one of the two because of his birthday party. I booked his birthday long before we had a soccer schedule and couldn't reschedule it. Bummer! It's been so fun to watch. The game is exciting and Mason enjoys it. I am totally loving being a soccer mom. I hope he continues to play! You can see more about soccer here, here and here.

Updated Spring 2016 Bucketlist:

Do you have a Spring Bucketlist? Do you get a ton of rain in April as well?

{Oh Hey Friday! // Soccer, Puddles, Diesel}

Happy Friday! Despite all the rain and the time we have spent indoors, this week really flew by. No complaints here. We have a very busy weekend ahead of us and have like 5 places we need to be at once. We still haven't figured it all out, but we will I suppose. Nate is coaching the soccer game solo on Saturday because our coach can't be there. We were kind of thinking it may be cancelled because of all the rain, but it's pure sunshine from now until Sunday. We shall see, I guess.

{O N E} // In case you missed it...

{T W O} // Our evenings this week were actually pretty low-key. The most exciting thing we did was soccer practice on Tuesday. And that was interesting!! It was pretty close to a full moon and we could tell by the kids! It was like herding cats. Seriously! All you can do is laugh.  Oh and we may have eaten at our new McCallisters a couple of times. Maybe.

{T H R E E} // Friends, if you need some encouragement this week I highly recommend you read THIS post from Beth at our Pretty Little Girls. Beth rounded up scriptures that some of her blogging friends cling to and she so kindly featured me. I know that I will look back to this post so frequently. There is so much truth and encouragement in those scriptures.

{F O U R} // This little ragamuffin is finally getting groomed today. I had to cancel his appt two weeks ago because he hurt his little paw. I don't know if he's going to hate me or love me for it. Last time I gave him a bath he wouldn't come near me for a whole day and a half and he gave me the side eye. And at his last grooming appt he tried biting the clippers when they got near his face! But, his hair is so long that it hangs over his eyes. Soooo...maybe he will be happy with me this time?! Lets hope. ha.

{F I V E} // I don't know what this boy is gonna do when our puddles all dry up! He has played in them almost every day this week and loves it.

That's all I have for today! Do you have any plans for the weekend?
