{A TRIP TO THE HILL COUNTRY // KERVILLE & FREDERICKSBURG}

We traveled to the Texas hill country for Labor Day weekend and had so much fun! Nate's parents booked a VRBO and invited our sister-in-law's parents to join. It was such a sweet time with tons of precious memories made!

{Bristol & Bluebonnets // Round 2}

This past Sunday we made a trip out to Bristol to see the Bluebonnets and to grab some supper at the Bristol General Store! This has to be one of my favorite Sunday traditions of ours. The Bluebonnets are only here for a short season, so we try to make as many trips as we can.

{Texas Tuesday // Bristol & Bluebonnets}

It's no secret around here that a drive out to the Bluebonnet fields (in the Jeep) fuels my soul! The drive from our house to Bristol is so pretty and it feels so good to be on some Texas backroads! We took a drive to see the Bluebonnets and pick up some food at the Bristol General Store

{Aaron Watson // March 2021}

 Back in March, we were invited to an Aaron Watson concert with some Jeep friends. Not only did they have tickets, but they also had a VIP table at this concert. Nathan knows how much I love Aaron Watson, so with only a day's notice, he made it happen! We found a sitter for Mase and our dogs for Saturday afternoon/evening!

{Texas Hill Country Loop with Friends/JAT admins}

Friday night around 10 pm we got a wild hair and planned a trip to the Texas Hill Country for....the very next morning!! Lucky for us, we have some pretty awesome friends that are just as spontaneous as us and said "absolutely" to our crazy plans! We were talking about planning an event for a group that Nate and I started {Jeep Around Texas} and wanted to make a pre-run to plan it all out. Our admins and great friends Michael & Keri, and Freddie joined us on this trip and we are so thankful that they did! We had a blast!!

{Beach House Tour // Surfside House}

We had so many people ask us about the beach house we were staying at during our recent vacation to Surfside beach. So, I decided to do a beach house tour.

{FREEPORT, TX ~ SURFSIDE BEACH // SUMMER VACATION 2020}

I've been putting this post off for far too long! I think I was intimidated by the number of photos I took (and making the YouTube video). Anyhow, back on June 16th, we headed down to the Freeport, TX / Surfside Beach area for several days! Nate's entire family went and it was the first time in years that we have all been together for a vacation! It was really nice.

{MEMORIAL DAY TRIP TO FREDERICKSBURG, TX}

After our annual camping trip to Mason, TX  (Thanks #Corona) was canceled we found a spot to camp in Fredericksburg, TX. We were so bummed to not be able to go to Mason. It's one of our most favorite weekends with some of our favorite people. But, we had an amazing time making new memories in Fredericksburg, TX.

"The road to freedom is bordered with sunflowers." - Martin Firrell

One of our favorite things to do as a family is to hop in the Jeep and drive some backroads. We chase the sunset and watch it fall over a field, creek, pond or lake. We usually have no agenda when backroading, but yesterday I was adamant to find a sunflower field. Normally they are pretty abundant around here this time of year, but it’s all about the corn this year. We finally landed upon a field of sunflowers somewhere in Ennis, TX. And, it was well worth the miles we covered.

{Snow Day // Jan 16, 2018}

On Tuesday of this week we got to enjoy a nice snow day at home! Monday was a holiday, so it ended up being a super extended weekend. They were quick to call school around 9:30 the night before. We laughed and were thinking how they would never do that when we were kids. We had to wait until like 7:00 - 7:30 the next morning to find out. They would wait until the very last minute, so you had to get ready just in case they didn't call it. It also makes us laugh how quick Texas shuts down on snow days! But, an extra day at home? We'll take it!

{First trail ride in the new Jeep}

Back in November when we camped in East Texas {Palestine/Rusk area} we took the Jeep on a few trail rides. It was our first time to actually take it off-road and we had a blast! The trails were nothing too strenuous and were marked trails. But, nonetheless we had an amazing time. This was also before we lifted the Jeep and put bigger tires on it. We are chomping at the bit to hit some more trails now that the upgrades have been done!!

{Camping in the fall // Rusk & Palestine TX}

If you've read my blog for any amount of time you'd know that we are campers! We love to visit new places and camp while doing so. I love camping any time of the year, but especially in the fall. There is just something about the cooler weather that makes it so much more enjoyable. You're probably wondering why I am talking about fall when it's in the dead of winter for most. Well, we live in Texas and our weather is pretty bipolar. We are still having summer like days as well as fall like days around here. We've only had a couple of days that felt like winter so far. But for the most part, it's still fall here in Texas.

{Dallas World Aquarium}

This past Saturday we left home bright and early to meet some friends at the Dallas World Aquarium. Nate had met Chris through a fishing tournament and they have stayed in touch. It was the first time for the rest of us to meet. Chris' wife and I showed up wearing almost the exact same thing, Our shirts were similar and the same color, our pants were the same shade of blue jean and we both had on camel colored sandals. To everyone else it probably looked like we planned it. We met at 9 when the aquarium opened and I am so glad we did. We were able to take our time casually strolling through the exhibits while talking and forming new friendships! It was an amazing day.

{Memorial Day weekend trip // Mason, TX}

Way back in May we checked 'travel to the Texas Hill Country for our annual Memorial Day camping trip in Mason, TX' off of our Summer Bucketlist. We camp here every Memorial & Labor Day weekend and I don't think we could love it more. Every year it's pretty much the same group of people...somewhere between 10-18 campers...and it's a time of good food, good adventures and great fellowship! It's two of our favorite weekends of the year!!

{This Past Weekend // Sleepovers, Antique Alley, a day at home}

Happy Monday!! What another great weekend we had. It was one of those that I didn't really want to end. Or at least not so soon. It was filled with the perfect balance of busy and relaxation. I am already looking forward to the next weekend. Here is a look at our past weekend...

{Spring Break - Guadalupe River State Park}

While out driving one day we happened upon Guadalupe River State Park. And boy are we glad we did. It was such a beautiful camping spot! We'd love to go there one day. The river was still cold because it was March, but that didn't stop us from dipping our toes in it!

{Spring Break - Cave with No Name}

While driving around Boerne we saw signs for The Cave with No Name and decided to sign up for a tour. We love exploring caves and seeing all of their natural beauty! This one was huge and did not disappoint! We loved it.

{Spring Break - Boerne, TX}

Okay, so it's pronounced "Burney" and not "Born". We found that out well after our trip and us calling it Burney the whole time. Anyhow, we absolutely fell in love with this picturesque little town! It was so cute and we just loved it. We visited the shops, ate at a barbeque place and walked a little river lined park.

{Spring Break - Remember the Alamo?}

We weren't too far from San Antonio, so we spent a day over there. We went to the Alamo, played in the Ripley's Believe it Not area, walked the River Walk and ate at Mi Tierra's (a must in San Antonio). It was a fun day!

{Spring Break - Lake Medina, TX}

For Spring Break we decided to head to the Texas Hill Country. We camped at Lake Medina and it was absolutely gorgeous! It was peaceful and quiet and just so relaxing. The drive down to the campgrounds was my favorite...up and down hills with beautiful views. We saw so many deer, rabbits, and wild turkeys. It was so neat!
