{Waxahachie Wednesday // Farm Luck Soda Fountain}

Happy Waxahachie Wednesday! Today I am sharing about one of my favorite places in Waxahachie, Farm Luck Soda Fountain and Dry Goods. It's the cutest place in downtown Waxahachie!!

{Waxahachie Wednesday // A Place in Your Heart, Texas}

Waxahachie has been deemed the "movie capital of Texas" with over thirty movies filmed here and three Academy Award films.  One of those (Oscar-winning) features was "Places in the Heart" featuring Sally Field. It's because of this film that Waxahachie adopted the slogan, "Waxahachie: A Place in Your Heart, Texas."

{Waxahachie Wednesday // Love Lock Wall}

Another fun Waxahachie attraction (playing off the "A Place in Your Heart, Texas") is the Love Lock Wall located in the downtown area. This fence is located on a 100+ year-old crumbling retaining brick wall. Instead of tearing it down, they came up with this fun and unique idea of a place where visitors and residents could publicly display their love for each other, or for the town by placing a heart-shaped lock on the fence.

{Waxahachie Wednesday // Hachie Hearts}

If you make a trip to the downtown area of Waxahachie you'll notice giant painted hearts in various nooks and crannies throughout. This public art project is called "Hachie Hearts" and features twenty-one unique painted hearts by local artists and each heart is sponsored by local businesses. This project is part of the city's "A Place in Your Heart, Texas" campaign. You can click here for an interactive map.

{Waxahachie Wednesday // An intro}

Way back when I used to share a lot about  Waxahachie in my Texas Tuesday posts.  As we were driving around the downtown area the other day it reminded me how much I love this charming little town and love to share about it. Right then and there, an idea popped up in my head..."Waxahachie Wednesday"!! So from here on out, most Wednesdays will be dedicated to all things Waxahachie.

{Celebrity Bakery // Waxahachie, TX}

 Our friends that own an Ice Cream shop here in town opened up a bakery. Nate and I finally got to try it out and it's safe to say that it's a new favorite.

{CHASING SUNSETS // Summer nights at the lake // 2020}

Chasing sunsets is one of my favorite everyday adventures. God is so gracious to give us these beautiful skies and I am so thankful for these little treasures. Every time I see one I am reminded of just how much our Heavenly Father loves us! And how mighty He is.

{Oh THOSE SUMMER NIGHTS // 2020}

{OUR QUARANTINED LIFE // WEEK 8}

Here we are at week 8 of this whole quarantine thing! More businesses around Texas are starting to open this week such as hair and nail salons. And then there will be another wave around the 15th, I believe. Nothing is really going to change for us! I'm just hoping and praying that we can go on our annual Memorial Day weekend trip to Mason, TX. This is one of my favorite weekends out of the year and we will all be so bummed if it gets canceled. Anyhow, here's a look at our week.

{Our Quarantined Life // Week 6}

This week marks 6 weeks of quarantine. SIX! Not sure why, but that just sounds like forever. Maybe because it's rare that we go 6 weeks without traveling somewhere. Right now I am okay with it, but I am looking forward to a long summer vacation and hoping that happens! At the end of last week, we started hearing that things are going to start opening back up in the next couple of weeks in Texas (minus schools - we are done for the year - e-learning only). Will we venture out when that happens? I'm not so sure! We will probably give it some more time...especially with Mason. The only time he has left the house is to run a quick errand and he never leaves the Jeep. Trying to keep my precious boy as safe as I can. The less exposed, the better. It's so bizarre to say that. I never thought we'd live in a time such as this.

Anyhow, here is a look at our 6th week of quarantine.

{Around town // Texas Independence Day}

Back on Texas Independence Day I remembered a mural in a neighboring town and wanted to go get a picture in front of it. It was perfect for the occasion!!

{The Arcade // December 2019}

One of these days I may be caught up on all things 2019, but today is not that day. I was doing really well at catching up, but then Mason contacted the Flu (type A) virus. So, we will try this again! Back in December after a family gathering, we decided to take Mason to this new place in town called The Arcade. We have heard so many cool things about it and wanted to check it out.

{Rollin' in the 4th of July parade with the Ellis County Jeep Club}

We had the pleasure of getting to roll with the Ellis County Jeeps in the Waxahachie 4th of July parade! Despite the insane heat and humidity, we had a blast. This was our 4th or 5th parade to be in since we've had the Jeep. They just keep getting better and better!

{Supper at the lake with friends}

At 3:46pm on Monday afternoon I got a text from my sweet friend Keri saying something to the tune of  "we are going to have supper at the lake this evening if y'all want to join us". Umm, yes, please! I texted Nate to check with him even though I knew what his answer would be. He wrote back  (very quickly) "I'm down"! We love having friends close by that has all the same interests as we do! We all get along so great and our kids even declared themselves best friends by the end of the night! Oh, how I love it. Sunset suppers at the lake with dear friends is what summer is all about!

{Another evening at the lake}

Am I getting a bit repetitive here? We just can't help it. We enjoy our evenings spent at the lake something fierce. A couple of weeks ago we loaded up the Jeep, grabbed a pizza & some drinks and headed for the lake. The water was a bit warmer for Mason (not that he cares) and it was just a really nice evening. We love this lake because it's fairly small and its a quiet & relaxing area.

{Sunset supper at the lake}

One random weeknight, a Thursday to be exact, we decided to shake things up a bit for supper. We thought it would be fun to cook supper at the lake while watching the sunset. We gathered everything we needed for grilling some burgers and we were off.

{Ellis County Jeep Meet}

Our local Jeep club has a meet up once a month. Our April meet up was at a new burger place in town only about 5 minutes from our house. Because of this, we took both Jeeps. The owners of the restaurant let us all park out in the field behind the place. There was a huge dirt/rock pile and you know as Jeepers we couldn't stay off. The owners were completely cool with it and even came out to take photos! Nate and I had both of our Jeeps on the dirt/rock pile, but it was hard to get shots with both Jeeps together.

{Chasing Sunsets in the Jeep}

If you've been around my blog or my Instagram for a while you probably know that chasing sunsets is one of my favorite things ever! Often times throughout the week (or even on the weekend) we will hop in the Jeep, take some back roads and chase the sunset. I hope that the amazing and beautiful work of God is something that I never ever take for granted! And, it's such a good 'reset' for me.

{Five on Friday // Bible, Farmluck, Snow Cones, Dieting}

Happy Friday! It has been almost a month since I have written a Five on Friday post. Y'all...it has been so dang busy around these parts! First was vacation {gone for 10 days}, then I came back to the Photobucket fiasco {I've already updated 136 blog posts and counting}, trying to catch up on Bible studies {personal, study with my girlfriends, Wednesday nights at church, and Sunday school}, going through the 1400+ photos I took while on vacation, trying to get the house back in order, etc. And then this week Nate's Step Grandfather was taken by ambulance to the hospital for low oxygen levels, Nathan had jury duty all week, my sister lost her father in law, and a family friend's 11 year old was diagnosed with the mumps. His family went on vacation with us and the kid and Mason played together a lot. I had to contact Mason's doctor to see if she wanted him to come in. But, he's fully vaccinated and the incubation period would have been towards the end of our vacay {and the kid left 2 days before us} so we should be in the clear. Whew! Other than all  of that, life has been pretty dang grand over here. Nathan and I have had a bunch of unexpected date nights {Praise Jesus, Hallelujah} and we've had a ton of family time. We are trying to soak up every last drop of summer and making so many memories. We hope to squeeze in a few more little adventures before school starts back. One of these days I will be able to answer emails and  I will blog about our vacation and all of the other little things we have done! But for today it's a Five on Friday...a little bit of what we've been up to this week.

{Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas}

This is an old post that has been sitting in my drafts for the longest. However, I saw that today's "I'll show you" prompt was 'around my hometown' and it kind of fit. Just a little bit about the oh so charming place that I call home.
